Are You REALLY Serious About YOUR Success?

What a thought-provoking question! I’m sure your first thought is, “Of course!” However, many individuals who respond in this manner are just not serious about obtaining success. Allow me to explain.

I recently dined with my dearest friend. I hadn’t seen him in a while because he is presently pursuing a career as a commercial pilot. We addressed the necessity of having entire attention on attaining achievement over supper.

In my situation, I intended to start an Internet business, which meant quitting my full-time work to focus on obtaining the essential skills and having the time to create and operate my firm. To completely focus on growing my websites, I’ve had to commit a lot of time, hard effort, and sacrifice a lot of other interests in my life.

To yet, my friend’s resolve to become a pilot has necessitated an expenditure of almost $100,000. He, too, quit his work to chase his goal, as well as his lover. He studied in three countries and worked extremely hard, day and night, to obtain the essential skills and certificates.

In contrast, we highlighted how many individuals claim to want success but aren’t sincere about it. A good example is a young man my buddy met on a course in Oklahoma. He, too, was learning to become a pilot but was having difficulty meeting the needed standard. Despite his abilities, the young guy failed his tests twice, and my buddy provided the following explanations. As you read, consider whether any of the following apply to you:

  1. There is no heart in it. He dropped out of university with no notion of what he wanted to pursue. While perusing the Internet, his father discovered a pilot’s training and recommended it to his son. He signed up, thinking that being a pilot would make his family proud. He’s not doing it for the sake of it.
  2. Sold on romance: The idea of being a pilot, with all of the status and respect that comes with it, as well as the decent pay, seemed extremely enticing. However, it necessitates countless hours of hard effort and ongoing improvement, and this reality is significantly less enticing.
  3. The course is being paid for by the man’s father. He understands that he may take as much time as he likes because his father will pay for extra study and exam retakes. He lacks the intensity and energy that comes from paying for his own studies – and for his own mistakes – since he is not paying for them. In other words, failing doesn’t hurt him enough.
  4. Susceptible to distraction. Instead of performing extra homework after class, the young guy surfs the web. He is an avid sports lover who spends hours perusing sports websites on the internet. They are squandered hours, hours that will not bring him any closer to becoming a pilot. This takes his attention away from the work at hand, as does:
  5. Inviting his girlfriend to his house every weekend. He spends his weekends with his fiancĂ©e rather than working, studying, or traveling. They go shopping, watch movies, eat out, and you can guess what else they do! My friend attempted to convince him that he was squandering weekends and that he should be putting in more hours. “Yes, but my girlfriend wouldn’t be thrilled about it, we have to see one other,” he was told. Despite my friend’s assurances that they could spend a lot of time together AFTER he qualified, the young guy continually invites his girlfriend for weekends – despite the fact that he has lately failed the third exam.

To attain the achievement you desire, you must be completely focused. You must be prepared to devote your whole attention to your initiatives and be completely devoted to them. It must become your top priority in your life.

So, are you genuinely committed to your own success?

Until next time, take care.
